This tutorial shows how to create a Sketchup model from plan image or PDF and photos, such as from a real estate listing or an existing plan image.
In many interior design projects, you’ll have a floor plan, but not a complete and accurate survey or elevations of the apartment, house or building. As a result, making an accurate sketchup model can be difficult – many designers make the mistake of simply guessing things like ceiling heights, or waiting until later on to measure on-site.
Using this method, we can create an accurate model with correct wall and ceiling heights, windows and doors from just the plan. This is useful when starting an interior design project for a home or apartment, where accurate CAD plans are not available.
Required:
-Sketchup Pro
-Floor plan as image or PDF
-Photos of the project as existing.
To get the best results, you should use photos that show a main wall front on, i.e. not from an angle or off centre. See the example image in this tutorial.
